Hit the Gym - By Sean Thonney

Working out is a phenomenal way to grow your self-esteem, achieve your physical goals, and acquire your dream body physique. Along with these, you will notice your stress levels lower and feel more relaxed. Incorporating weightlifting into your day-to-day life will not mean you will wake up the next morning and see results. There needs to be a lifestyle change.

According to Very Well Mind, “Gym anxiety, sometimes referred to as 'gymtimidation,' often stems from a fear of the unknown, the fear of being observed, or feeling unsure about what to do at the gym.” This is one of the biggest factors of why people don’t like gyms. What those people do not understand is that everyone starts somewhere. Some may be at the gym because they want to lose weight, become more effective in a sport, build as much muscle as physically possible naturally or not, a place to relieve stress, to become more active in their children's lives, or because their friend or family member dragged them along. Along with everyone starting somewhere, not everyone's goals in the gym are the same. But once you understand this, that is where the benefits start.    It is the beginning of something good.

There are several reasons why people stop returning to the gym. Because you had a bad experience, or a bigger reason is that they are not seeing the desired results. The majority of society are active users of social media. Social media is a group of horrible platforms for gym beginners because they are a key witness to giant unnatural influencers, but they claim they are natty. They see these influencers on these platforms with all these girls and nice cars. That is the way social media creates a life that really is not real at all. This happens out of the context of the gym, but since the gym is the topic, beginner gym members begin to set standards for themselves that are impossible without running different cycles of steroids. After a couple of weeks of lifting hard, they will look in the mirror, and the standards they set did not join them. According to Polar, you will see slight physical changes around your first four to six weeks mark, but to see the changes you are working for will take closer to eight to twelve weeks.

Now, the benefits you will see physically after being a gym user may differ from what your gym partner will see for themselves. Everyone's body is different. Not one is the same. This being said, you may see your posture improve. This is only the case when exercises are performed the proper way. You may also see your body fat percentage (BFP) is slowly depleting. As you continue in the gym, you will realize that the weight that was hard to perform last week feels like a breeze this week. Another realization you may make could be that you are more energetic than before going to the gym. Once you have been working hard in the gym, you will start to see definition in your arms, legs, core, shoulders, or back, depending on the goal you have set for yourself. All these have at least one thing in common: it must be worked for. And these are just some of the top benefits you will see in the beginning part of your career in the gym. There is much more to come if you stay consistent and push yourself.

Just as said above, the mental side of the gym benefits will take time for you to feel the effects. According to the Mental Health Foundation, you will start to experience better and more positive attitudes in your daily life by only working out three to five times a week for roughly thirty-five minutes for around ten to twelve weeks consecutively. It has been shown that incorporating physical activity into your schedule boosts your self-esteem and creates value for yourself. Along with these, you will also experience a reduction in depression and anxiety, and you will start experiencing better sleep as normal.

With everything that has been mentioned, you can now see that the gym can have a positive effect on everyone, no matter what the case is. It is a great community to join. Everyone who is a part of it started for one reason. Change.
