Bombers Pin the Suns - By Samuel Biggs

On Tuesday, December 12th, your Richland Bombers Men's Wrestling team faced off against the Southridge Suns. The Bombers are known as a dominant force to be reckoned with; Southridge had their work cut out for them and put up a pretty good fight. The match's final score was 42-33, with the Richland boys coming out victorious.

We had a slow start, getting pinned in the first face-off, allowing Southridge to take the early lead of 6-0. Following the 106-pound weight class, our Derek Odell for the Bombers wrestled at the 113-pound weight class. His match was a big turnaround for our team. His truly dominant performance got everyone going. The crowd was the loudest during his match. It was truly spectacular to watch. Derek wasn't quite able to get the pin on the Southridge wrestler, but they still beat him with an imposing score of 10-1. After his match, I had the opportunity to talk to our Richland Bomber, Derek Odell Odell was better, and he knew it: "Going into the match, I [Derek Odell] saw him and knew I would beat him without too much of an issue."

Along with the outstanding performance of the Bomber wrestler, Derek, Southridge was not going down without a fight. The Suns' 113-pound wrestler was highly resilient. With the constant shots from Odell, he always found a way to crawl his way out of bounds to get a reset in the middle. Southridge could only get away from him once, while Derek was in complete control the rest of the time. . He worked hard and put one hundred percent effort into the match, which was evident because he was still breathing hard while I discussed the math. He felt great going into the face-off and knew he was prepared more than enough. He said that setting up for his shots and getting his back points throughout the match was a struggle. Derek felt most confident about controlling his opponent and expressed, "The setup was rough [for his shots]; I bet I still had perfect shots." Overall, he had a good match, and many fans expressed how good he was and were very impressed at what he could do. Even though he should have pinned the Southridge wrestler, he was still happy with his performance and felt it was a great match.

The Richland Bombers wrestling team performed very well at Southridge and demonstrated once again what it means to be a Bomber. Bombers are relentless and give one hundred percent to everything they do. As we look into the future of bomber wrestling, their next match is on Wednesday, December 13th, when they will take on the Kamiakin Braves.
