Richland Reigns Supreme at the Ray Cross Invitational - By Kooper Schmitt

The Ray Cross Invitational held in Ephrata saw a gathering of athletic talent from schools across the state, showcasing some of the best schools in the area. Richland emerged as the winner, dominating various events and securing a memorable win. Let's look into the standout performances and key moments from the meet for Richland; all performances will be at the bottom. In the electrifying 100m dash, Levi Stiver showed his speed and determination, finishing fifth in a thrilling four-way tie with Grayson Stevens from East Valley and Alex Roberts and Dylin McIntyre, both from Kennewick, with a time of 11.20 seconds. Jalen also secured the seventh position, contributing crucial points to Richland's success.

In the 200m dash, Brayden Pratt got the second position with a time of 22.89, while Levi Stiver showcased his versatility, securing the 4th position and adding more points to Richland's tally.

Trent Bowers and Parker Schulz delivered impressive performances in the grueling 400m dash, securing the second and seventh positions. Trent ran a time of 53.80, while Parker got a time of 55.59, further adding to Richland's points.

The 300m hurdles witnessed a closely contested race. Jaden Booker narrowly missed out on the top spot, finishing second in a photo finish with his time being 41.78 and the top time being 41.43 from Kennewick Jackson Burns. The 110m hurdles saw Jackson Burns come away with first again, but behind him were the bombers Matthew Stanfield and Jaden Booker, in the 110m hurdles secured the second and third positions, respectively, showcasing Richland's strength in the hurdles events.

Despite stiff competition, Richland's relay teams showcased their teamwork and coordination, securing the fourth position in the 4x100m relay made up of Dorian Chadis, Maddix Wheeler, Julian Mendoza, and Zachary Rose, we also saw an impressive second-place finish in the 4x400m relay ran by Om Nair, Jaden Booker, Ben Higbee, and Brayden Pratt. Here is how Brayden said they did in the race: “ We did very well, executed their race plan well, we had smooth handoffs and overall exceeded expectations.”

 Om Nair displayed his endurance and determination in the 800m run, securing the third position and contributing crucial points to the Bombers' overall success.

Joshua Graves got sixth in the 1600m with a PR time of 4:56.37, While

Kellan Nelson in the 3200m got fifth also with a PR time of 10:15.26

In the field events, Kooper Schmitt and Lance Robinson demonstrated their skill in the javelin throw, securing the third and fifth positions, respectively, contributing significantly to Richland's score. In the shot put event, Isaac Gomez secured the seventh position and added points to their overall tally. Jalen Brightful showcased his jumping abilities, securing fifth place in the long jump event. Talon Jones and Bradley Kraus, with their performance in the triple jump, tied for the sixth position with a distance of 38'3". In the high jump event, Zach Rose and Matthew Stanfield displayed their agility and technique, securing the second and third positions, both with a height of 5'8" only behind Shaun Youngblood from Kennewick, who jumped. 6'2", their efforts further grew Richland's lead with the field events. Reily Berry soared to victory in the pole vault event, securing the first with a height of 13' and setting a personal record, while Arsenios Harrington delivered a performance of 12', getting second, adding valuable points to Richland's tally.

Richland emerged as the overall winner of the Ray Cross Invitational, showcasing their skill on the track and in the field. Kennewick secured the second position, while Moses Lake settled for the 3rd position in a contested meet celebrating the spirit of competition.
